Monstrous Regiment - I really liked that one. Not as silly as many of Pratchett's, I agree. But it's one of my favorites. I think the thing I liked most about it was that you saw Vimes from a different perspective. It was pretty neat.

I like it when Pratchett takes slight departures like this. 'Small Gods' is one of my favorites as well, but 'Thief of Time' is up there for me as well. It's a world we know, there are a few characters we know...but after reading almost the entire series, I like to see new characters.

We need to see more of Susan, Death's daughter. She is a great character, IMHO.

Wow. You put it up there with Small Gods? That's big.

It's been a while since I've kept up with the Discworld (I'm ashamed to admit). Does this one suffer if I'm not up on the chronology of the other books?

Splendid. You totally pegged us all. Bridget Fonda is even pinch-faced, like you like. I could see her sketch on the back of your sheet.

I was thinking of Bill Paxton this morning! (Or was it Bill Pullman, or Billy-Bob Thornton? It was a Bill, I'm sure.) So true, so true.

I just figure if you're going to go through all the trouble of papering up a character and then playing, you should be getting a dash of fantasy with your reality. Elsewise, why not just step away from the table and resume living?

And as for the Luke Skywalker of Fish and Game (Heh), remember early in our gaming careers when I actually created Luke Skywalker the Malkavian Vampire?

Sheesh. Me.

Yeah, they're definitely going for that Harry Potter, Legend of the Seeker, heavy is the head that got bitched by fate, kind of vibe. I hope your right that it's a marketing thing.

I do hope Suki will be in here, but Toph probably won't be until the second movie (where hopefully better earthbending will prevail).

I thought some of the water effects (even without the tidal wave part) were impressive enough. The fire benders NEEDING fire is a curious choice for how it limits the bad guys.

One thing that made me chuckle was that for a movie called The Last Airbender, he sure bends a lot of water in the trailer. I mean, we all get it, but I am curious what people coming in cold think any of this means.

Alas, the effects of a Michael Bay following society: Even M. Knight seems to be marketing it as a pure action film. The speaker discusses the plot, but based on what is shown, it doesn't look like there's a story. We all know there will be though - not only because of the show, but because it's M. Knight. So I'm not worried...I blame it on the marketing dept. There's got to be some comic relief...it can't all be doom/gloom. Well, I guess it can be, but I hope not.

Effects look pretty good. Appa looks awesome, CG doesn't look contrived or overlayed - it all blends well. My only complaint is that the magnitude doesn't come through. The water bending looked weak (a water arc 7' high? that's it) and the earth bending looked small (a barrier barely protecting you...why stop there? go big). I realize that some of that has to get scaled down for a live-action film, but does it have to go that small?

I want to see Toff and Suki in one of these previews. I think that might have been Toff throwing up the earth barrier, but it was a shot from behind, I can't tell.

All in all, I'll be going. I don't care if I"m going alone.

The more I think about it. The more I think all the candidates will die one by one.

Not that I know that much about transdimensional consciousness transference, but I think it might be easier if you're dead.

I hope you somehow peered in one their writer meetings, because you have a solid outline here.

I absolutely agree on Hurley. His ending makes or breaks the entire show for me. I'm all for vicious writing, twists, turns, etc., but if you don't do right by his character, then expect a horse head on your Tempurpedic (I STILL have Joss on the Equine-Noggin-A-Month Club because of the whole telephone pole through Wash's chest).
